Coffee Catch-Ups: Let’s Talk Community

Coffee, conversation and community — join us across the Bay & Basin to share your voice on what young people need to thrive.
Have a Cuppa & Chat with the Firefly crew

At Firefly Bay & Basin, we know the best conversations don’t usually happen in boardrooms; they happen over coffee.

Over the next few weeks, we’re hosting a series of Community Voice Coffee Catch-Ups at local cafés across the Bay & Basin. These are relaxed, welcoming spaces where you can sit down with us and chat about the Bay & Basin Community Voice survey, no speeches, no presentations, just real conversation.

Our Community Voice survey is helping us build a clearer picture of how our community supports children and young people. What’s working well? What could be stronger? What might we be missing?

While plenty of people are happy to share their thoughts online (and we love that!), we also know that sometimes it’s easier to talk things through face-to-face. Conversation can feel more natural, and sometimes you don’t know what you think until you say it out loud.

These catch-ups are a chance to:

  • Talk through the Community Voice questions

  • Share your lived experience, ideas and observations

  • Ask how the data will be used and how it will be shared back

  • Connect with other locals who care about the wellbeing of children and young people

There’s no formal agenda and absolutely no pressure to have all the answers. Just open conversation, listening well, and learning together.

When and Where

Free coffee or tea is on us, and you’re welcome to drop in at any time during the session.

Why Community Voice Matters

The Bay & Basin Community Voice project is about listening deeply to parents, carers, educators, community groups, business owners, Elders, and anyone who plays a role in the lives of young people.

We’re not collecting data for the sake of it. We’re building a community-owned picture of what life looks like for children and young people in our region. That picture can help guide future conversations, partnerships, funding opportunities and practical action, all grounded in local knowledge and lived experience.

If you’ve been meaning to complete the survey, or you’d simply rather talk it through in person, we’d genuinely love to see you.

Come for the coffee. Stay for the conversation.
