From Ask to Amplify: Students Share Their Vision for Change

Hear young people pitch bold ideas for connection, creativity and wellbeing at Vincentia High School on 5 August. Join us and help amplify change.
Youth Voice Sr July Holiday Workshop

After months of research, consultation and hard work, students in the Youth Voice Senior Program at Vincentia High School are preparing for the next step in their community change journey.

On Wednesday, 5 August, students will pitch their projects to community members as part of Phase 3: Amplify of the Youth Voice program. The event will be held in the Performance Space at Vincentia High School from 2:40 pm.

Community members, local organisations, parents, school staff, and anyone interested in supporting young people in creating positive change are invited to attend.

To RSVP, please email Christine McInerney-Percy at info@fireflybayandbasin.org.

From Asking to Amplifying

Throughout Phase 2: Ask, students have been gathering information, collecting data, and speaking with their peers to better understand the issues they care about most. This stage has helped them build evidence to support their ideas and ensure their projects are grounded in the real experiences and needs of young people at Vincentia High School.

Phase 3: Amplify will see the students share what they have learned and present their proposals to community members, seeking support, partnerships and opportunities to bring their ideas to life at the pitch event.

The students have shown incredible dedication to their projects, even volunteering their time during the school holidays to further develop their pitches. Following their hard work, the group celebrated with a well-earned trip to the movies, where we enjoyed watching Moana and may or may not have had a spontaneous sing-along along the way!

The Projects

Clubity Club Clubs

Clubity Club Clubs is focused on revitalising school-based clubs at Vincentia High School.

Through their research, students identified that clubs provide valuable opportunities for connection, belonging and the development of shared interests. The project team is exploring ways to increase awareness and participation in existing clubs while creating new opportunities for students to connect around their passions.

Their vision is to build a vibrant and inclusive club culture that encourages more students to get involved in school life and develop meaningful connections with their peers.

Symphony of Souls

Symphony of Souls aims to create more opportunities for young people to perform and showcase their talents.

Students recognised that many young people are seeking creative outlets and opportunities to express themselves through music, performance, and the arts. Their project explores ways to create platforms and pathways for students to share their talents, gain experience performing and build confidence in a supportive environment.

The team hopes their work will help celebrate the creativity that already exists within the school community while encouraging more young people across the Shoalhaven to step into the spotlight.

Well Minds Rising

Well Minds Rising is a wellbeing and mental health-focused and advocacy project, exploring ways to strengthen wellbeing support for students at Vincentia High School.

The team has been investigating what wellbeing looks like from a young person’s perspective and identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. Their research has highlighted the importance of connection, belonging and accessible support systems for students.

Through their pitch, students will share ideas designed to enhance mental health support, strengthen student connections and contribute to a positive wellbeing culture across the school.

The upcoming pitch event is a chance to hear directly from young people about the issues that matter to them and the solutions they believe can make a difference. We invite you to join us on Wednesday, 5 August, at 2:40 pm in the Performance Space at Vincentia High School and hear these inspiring pitches firsthand.
