Youth Crew – the Bay and Basin’s Youth Advisory Board
The Youth Crew is Firefly’s newly established Youth Advisory Board, made up of a passionate group of local young people from across the Bay and Basin region. These young leaders are stepping up to help shape the future, bringing their voices, ideas, and lived experiences to the table to guide youth-focused initiatives in our community.
This exciting new group emerged from the momentum of our Youth Collective workshops and the community’s growing call for more youth-led decision-making. Following a region-wide expression of interest process, we invited selected young people to participate in the first-ever Youth Crew—and they’ve hit the ground running.
So far, members of the Youth Crew have participated in two foundational training sessions, co-facilitated by Firefly and Sonder Youth, designed to develop skills in leadership, communication, advocacy, and collaboration. These sessions have also laid the groundwork for the group’s shared purpose and direction.
What the Youth Crew will do:
- Advise Firefly and community partners on youth projects and services
- Contribute ideas and feedback to help improve opportunities for local young people
- Co-design events and activities with Firefly and the broader community
- Advocate for issues that matter to youth in the Bay and Basin
This isn’t just a token seat at the table—it’s about real participation, real responsibility, and real change. Youth Crew members will represent their peers, learn from one another, and help build a stronger, more inclusive Bay and Basin for all young people.
The Youth Crew is just getting started, and there’s so much more to come.
