Firefly works with, supports, and advocates for young people in the Bay and Basin through collaboration. We work with the community and local organisations for better outcomes and experiences for Bay and Basin young people.
Firefly is one of nine Uniting NSW.ACT Future Horizons community initiatives. Future Horizons aims to build a better world by focusing on communities and places with the greatest need. We bring together young people, parents and carers, schools, organisations, governments, and residents to collaborate, find solutions, and create lasting change for that community.
One of Firefly’s key goals is to collaborate organisations to bring fun events and activities to the Sanctuary Point Skate Park. Achieving this goal has involved partnering with Shoalhaven City supporting youth consultation and community engagement for the Street Art Mural project at the park.
The Youth Voice project is a youth led, youth research initiative being delivered in partnership and collaboration within the Bay and Basin community.
Curious and Creative is a student re-engagement and pathways program we helped to develop and currently deliver in partnership with BCR Communities and Vincentia High School, This started as an answer to an identified need for young people in the Bay and Basin community finding it hard to re-enter school life post COVID lockdowns. It now aims to support young people struggling to engage in school due to mental health struggles.
