On Wednesday 5 August 2026, Youth Voice students at Vincentia High School took centre stage in the Performance Space to present their project ideas to an audience of community leaders, service providers, educators and supporters.
Over 30 attendees representing community organisations and services. including Sydney based Accountable Futures, Western Sydney University and Uniting, alongside a diverse range of local community groups and stakeholders, the event showcased the power of young people when they are given the opportunity to develop ideas, share their vision and engage directly with their community.
The Youth Voice Pitch Event marked the culmination of months of planning, research and development by students, who presented three innovative project ideas:
- Well Minds Rising
- Clubity Club Clubs
- Symphony of Souls
Each pitch was thoughtfully prepared and confidently delivered, sparking conversation and generating genuine interest from those in attendance. The professionalism, creativity and passion demonstrated by the students was evident throughout the afternoon and reflected the considerable work they had invested in bringing their ideas to life.
Community Voting Highlights Strong Support
This year also introduced a new element to the Pitch Event, with attendees invited to vote on the projects they believed had the greatest potential to move forward.
With 55 votes cast, the results were incredibly close with Well Minds Rising received the most votes with Clubity Club Clubs a close second. While the voting process was designed to help identify two projects for further development, the results highlighted something even more important: every project resonated with the audience and attracted meaningful support.
The Real Winner Was Collaboration
One of the strongest messages to emerge from the feedback forms and post-pitch community networking session, was that the three project ideas should not necessarily be viewed as separate initiatives.
Many attendees identified opportunities for the projects to complement one another and work together toward a shared vision. This theme of collaboration was raised repeatedly throughout discussions, with guests recognising that each concept offered unique strengths that, when connected, could create an even greater impact for young people and the wider community.
For the students, this feedback was incredibly valuable. It challenged them to think beyond individual projects and consider how partnerships, shared resources and collective action could help turn their ideas into something bigger than originally imagined.
The feedback gathered from conversations, feedback forms and discussion sessions will now be provided to the students to support the next stage of project development.
Conversations That Continued Beyond the Stage
Following the formal presentations, students and guests stayed on to enjoy afternoon tea, network and continue conversations in a more informal setting.
The room remained full of energy as students engaged directly with community leaders, service providers and professionals, sharing more about their ideas and exploring possibilities for future partnerships.
These conversations were an important part of the event, providing students with the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen their communication skills and make connections with people who may be able to support their projects moving forward
Turning Ideas into Reality
While the Pitch Event was a celebration of student achievement, it also marked the beginning of an exciting new phase.
Over the next two school terms, students will focus on exploring how their ideas can be transformed into practical, achievable projects. This work will involve investigating funding opportunities, building partnerships, identifying resources and refining project plans based on the feedback received during the event.
The goal now is to move from inspiration to implementation and determine what aspects of these ideas can become a reality.
A Proud Moment for Our Students
The Youth Voice Pitch Event was a fantastic success, not simply because of the ideas presented or the votes received, but because it demonstrated what is possible when young people are trusted to lead, create and contribute to their community.
Standing in front of a room of community representatives and presenting an original idea takes courage. Doing it with confidence, professionalism and passion is something worth celebrating.
The students should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
