Youth Voice 2025 – Help Us Shape the Future

A selection of students from Vincentia High School Young are not just part of the community; they are leading the charge in shaping it. They’re not just asking for your input; they’re showing us how it’s done.

This year’s cohort has been diligently working through the Youth Voice framework. They’ve completed the Aware part of the framework, where they identified the issues that matter to young people in the Bay and Basin area, explored their community through asset mapping, and they have begun to imagine a different future.

Now they are in the Ask phase where they have received researcher training and are now conducting research and this week, they have launched surveys to gather data to support the next phase of the project – Amplify.

These surveys, designed and led by students, are not just about gathering data. They’re about shaping a bold and hopeful vision for what a more connected, creative, and compassionate community could look like.

What’s Being Explored?

Each student team has developed a unique project and vision. Here’s what they’re working on — and how you can have your say.

Project Skate – Skate Culture & Community

Vision: We imagine a community that celebrates skating, BMX, and creativity. We want safe, welcoming spaces where people can ride, make friends, and express themselves.

This project explores the need for more inclusive skate events and improvements to existing parks in Sussex Inlet and Sanctuary Point.

Take the Skate Culture Survey

If you’re a skater, BMX rider, or someone who hangs out at the skate park — we’d love to hear from you.

Squids on Show – Youth Performing Arts

Vision: We envision a community where all young people can participate in the arts, express themselves, and take pride in who they are.

This team is designing performance opportunities for young people to showcase talents in music, drama, dance and more.

Take the Performing Arts Survey

If you’re a performer, artist, or someone who loves the stage, please fill in this survey and share your ideas.

FADIC – Free Activity Drop-In Centre

Vision: We envision a safe and fun space where young people can go after school. A place to hang out, be creative, and feel supported.

This idea centres on creating an after-school drop-in space where young people can connect, unwind, and engage in free activities.

Take the Drop-In Centre Survey

If you’d like a place to hang out after school — somewhere safe and fun — this is your chance to help design it.

 L1Give – School Supply & Uniform Support

Vision: We envision a school community where all students have what they need — where no one is left out due to financial constraints.

This project will establish a school-based support hub for students who struggle to afford uniforms, school supplies, or excursions. This survey is exclusive to Vincentia High School and is not open to the public.

Who Are We Hoping to Hear From?

Young people aged 10–24

Skaters, artists, performers, and creatives

Families, teachers, youth workers, and anyone who cares about young people in the Shoalhaven

How You Can Help

Complete one or more of the surveys — and share them with others

  • Encourage students in your classroom, youth group or network to take part
  • Help us connect with local educators, especially CAPA and PDHPE teams

Every response helps. The students will use this data to build their cases, pitch to decision-makers, and take the next step in turning their ideas into action.
