We can’t quite believe we’re already in December, honestly, where did November disappear to? Back in October (which now feels like a lifetime ago), we presented the prizes and certificates to the winners of the Spring into Sanctuary Point Poster Competition. … and although this celebration is fashionably late, we weren’t going to miss the chance to shine a light on the incredible young people who took part.
The winners were:
- Overall Winner: Sol
- Highly Commended Senior: Tasmin
- Highly Commended Junior: Evie
- People’s Choice Award: Lucas

Sol’s poster captured the hearts of the judging panel with its unique style and its beautiful representation of the fair’s essence. Inspired by the many years they’ve attended the Spring Fair, Sol thoughtfully included key features of Francis Ryan Reserve, and you can even see the stunning St Georges Basin in the background. The judges were particularly impressed by the authenticity and personal touch of the artwork, reflecting not just a scene, but the feeling of community, fun, and belonging that makes the fair so special. “I wanted to include the oval and the Basin because they’re what make the fair feel like home,” said Sol, perfectly capturing the spirit of the event.
While Sol’s poster took out the top prize, Tasmin, Evie, and Lucas all impressed the judges with their creativity, attention to detail, and individuality.

Firefly Bay and Basin have been running this competition for three years now, helping Sanctuary Point Community Pride engage directly with young people, and this partnership will continue in the future. Beyond celebrating artistic talent, the competition fosters confidence, pride, and connection among participants, showing them that their voices and contributions truly matter in the community.
Spring into Sanctuary Point itself has been a community tradition since 2012. The fair moved to Francis Ryan Reserve in 2013 and has grown into one of the Bay and Basin’s most anticipated annual events. With market stalls, entertainment, and food, the fair brings together families, local organisations, and residents to celebrate everything that makes the area special. Over the years, it has highlighted the incredible facilities, services, and initiatives within the community, with local organisations given free stall spaces to showcase their work. The fair also encourages participation from all ages, making it a true community celebration where everyone can feel involved.
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who entered the poster competition. Your creativity and effort made this year’s event truly memorable. Congratulations to Sol, Tasmin, Evie, and Lucas for their incredible contributions and for helping to inspire a sense of community and celebration that extends far beyond the fair itself.
Spring into Sanctuary Point continues to be a day to connect, share, and celebrate the people and places that make the Bay and Basin so special. And with young artists like these leading the way, we can’t wait to see what next year’s competition brings!
