BMX Blast 2024 was a huge success! From riding clinics to community fun, it brought riders together for an epic day.
BMX Blast event

The sun was shining, the wheels were spinning, and the atmosphere was electric at the Youth Voice BMX Blast at Sanctuary Point Skate Park! Riders aged 5- 15 years came together for an unforgettable day of riding action.

From young first-time mountain bikers to seasoned enthusiasts, everyone had a blast honing their skills, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, and connecting with fellow riders. It was clear that BMX Blast was much more than just a day of riding—it was about building confidence, having fun, and making lasting memories.

Event Highlights

  • Skill-Building Clinics: A massive thank you to the South Coast United Mountain Bikers (SCUM) for running incredible BMX clinics throughout the day! Riders of all levels were able to learn new techniques and improve their confidence with expert coaching that made a real difference. One young rider said, “I loved learning new tricks at the clinic! The coaches were awesome, and I can’t wait for next year!” – Toby, 9.
  • Raffle Giveaways & Fun Activities: The excitement didn’t stop with riding! Each clinic participant received a raffle ticket for a chance to win some awesome BMX gear. Plus, our colouring-in competition was a hit, with participants of all ages taking a quiet moment away from the track to show off their artistic side. It was great to see everyone getting involved, both on and off the bikes!
  • Community Spirit: Events like BMX Blast don’t happen without a lot of support.
    • Thanks to Anthony from Sanctuary Point Community Pride, who assisted with the BBQ.
    • A big shoutout to the Firefly team and their families for giving up their Saturday to support the Youth Voice students who helped run the event.
    • We’d also like to acknowledge Mr Crossman and Ms Boyce from Vincentia High School, who came to cheer on their students and show their support.
    • We also want to extend a huge thank you to South Coast First Aid Training for attending and ensuring the safety of everyone at the event. Your presence gave riders and families peace of mind, knowing professionals were on hand to respond if needed.

Events like BMX Blast go beyond just riding. They encourage youth to be active, build confidence, and foster strong community connections. This year’s event was a great example of how sport can bring people together, and the impact of this event will be felt long after the bikes have been packed away.

Event Supporters

We couldn’t have made BMX Blast happen without the incredible backing of our community—special thanks to Shoalhaven City Council for the grant that funded the event. Your support allowed us to create an unforgettable experience for our local youth.

A big round of applause to Caitlyn, Phoebe, and Jasmine, who ran this event as part of their Youth Voice Project. Your dedication and hard work were truly inspiring, and you helped make BMX Blast a huge success!

Looking Ahead

The best part? This is just the beginning! Firefly and SCUM are already making plans to team up again in 2025 for another exciting event. We’re on a mission to encourage local youth to get outside, ride bikes, and maybe even take up the Olympic sport of mountain biking! Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t miss your chance to be part of the action next year!
