Want to feel more confident supporting a friend who might be struggling?
Firefly Bay & Basin is excited to offer Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) Training during the upcoming school holidays, delivered by headspace Nowra.
This internationally recognised program is designed for young people aged 15 to 18 and helps participants learn how to recognise when a friend may be experiencing a mental health challenge, start supportive conversations, and connect them with appropriate help.
Participants will explore:
- Common mental health challenges experienced by young people
- How to recognise signs that someone may need support
- How to have safe and supportive conversations
- Where and when to seek help from trusted adults and services
- How to look after their own wellbeing while supporting others
The training is being offered to young people in the Bay and Basin area.
Mental health challenges are common among young people, and knowing how to respond can make a real difference. This training is not about becoming a counsellor. It’s about learning practical skills that can help you support a friend, classmate, teammate, or family member when they need it most.
Who Can Attend?
Young people aged 14 to 18 years who are current or former participants in Firefly’s Youth Voice or Youth Crew programs.
