Fun, Food & Friendly Faces: FADIC January Holiday Workshops

School holiday boredom? Sorted. Our FADIC January Workshops keep young people fed, entertained and busy with fun, free activities.

School holidays are exciting… for about five minutes. Then it starts.
“I’m bored.”
“There’s nothing to do.”
“I’m hungry.”

If that sounds familiar, good news Firefly Bay & Basin has a plan.

This January, our FADIC Holiday Workshops are here to rescue young people (and their grown-ups) from peak holiday boredom. We’ll keep young people fed, entertained and busy with creative, hands-on activities — all in a cool, air-conditioned space, close to a bus stop, and surrounded by friendly faces.

Ages: 10–17
Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (doors open at 9:55 am)
Bring: Water bottle & anything else you need for the day
Cost: FREE — early registration recommended
Bookings: Book now via Humantix

FADIC stands for Free Activity Drop-In Centre. It’s a youth-led project developed through Firefly’s Youth Voice program, in partnership with students from Vincentia High School in 2025.

The project received grant funding in late 2025 to continue into the January school holidays, following on from an 8-week pilot program held between October and December 2025. FADIC was created to provide spaces where young people can connect with peers, take part in fun activities and feel welcome in a safe, supportive environment.

Why These Workshops Matter

The FADIC holiday series isn’t just about fun, it’s part of a broader effort to give young people in the Bay & Basin meaningful, supported spaces to connect, create and belong. Through the Youth Voice program, Firefly works alongside young people to design initiatives that genuinely reflect their ideas and needs.

The Free Activity Drop-In Centre and these holiday workshops have been made possible thanks to a grant from the Office of Youth, helping Firefly deliver engaging, free opportunities for local young people.

These workshops are open to all young people aged 10–17 — a great chance to try something new, make friends and build confidence in a welcoming environment..

We can’t promise they’ll want to go home early… but we can promise they won’t be bored.
