Why is there a Youth Crew project?
Firefly have been working toward how young people in this community can have their voices heard, valued and become part of the decision-making process at a community level for community groups and organisations.
This initiative was kicked started off the back of a series of ‘Youth Collective’ workshops which engaged local community groups, non-profit organisations working with young people and students from Vincentia High School. Read more about these workshops here.
The findings of these ‘Youth Collective’ workshops highlighted the need to look at avenues to connect with local young people to hear their positions and insights into the issues and concerns focused on young people in our local area. Engaged community groups and organisations in this work, supported an organised Youth Advisory Group which they can connect to.
