Enter the 2024 Spring into Sanctuary Point Poster Competition

We’re excited to launch the 2024 Poster Design Competition for the Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair! Presented by Sanctuary Point Community Pride Inc. in collaboration with Firefly Bay and Basin, this year’s competition is a fantastic opportunity for local youth aged 5-18 to showcase their creativity. Your design could become the face of the fair, set for Saturday, 19 October 2024.

Submit your design by 30 August 2024, and you could win a $100 gift card!

Competition Details

Who can enter?

Young people aged 5 to 18 living in the Bay and Basin area.

What are the prizes?

Categories:

  • Overall Winner: $100 Visa gift card.
  • Highly Commended (5 to 12 years): $50 Visa gift card.
  • Highly Commended (13 to 18 years): $50 Visa gift card.
  • People’s Choice Award: $50 Visa gift card.

No cash alternatives are available. The Promoter’s decision is final.

What is the goal of the poster?

To promote the “Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair” and build pride in our community. The fair will be held on Saturday, 19 October 2024, and features live entertainment, food, information stalls, and activities.

Suggested themes for the poster are:

  • Springtime – plants and flowers, new life/life cycles, pastel and bright colours, bugs, and insects
  • Street Festival – bright colours, party
  • Fair – music, jumping castle, stalls
  • Community – people gathering, coming together, supporting each other, soft colours, and images.

Poster Specifications

  • Size: A3
  • Format: Digital design using graphic design software or high-res scan of drawings (300 PPI/DPI, 3508 x 4961 pixels)
  • Must include:
    • Event title: “Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair”
    • Date: “19 October 2024”
    • Time: “9 am to 1 pm”
    • Venue: “Paradise Beach Road, Sanctuary Point”
  • Logos:
    • Sanctuary Point Community Pride
    • Firefly Bay and Basin
    • Shoalhaven City Council
    • Headspace

Logos can be added by Firefly if omitted.

What else can I include?

Feel free to add hand-drawn images, graphics and/or text that promote the event, such as:

  • Free entry
  • Live entertainment
  • Food and stalls
  • Raffles
  • Community Information
  • Free activities

What colours can I use?

Any colours are acceptable but ensure readability. Sanctuary Point Community Pride’s colours are available for use.

What font can I use?

Use any readable font. Different sizes can be used to highlight key information. Sanctuary Point Community Pride’s fonts are Poppins and SPSP (specially designed for us)

Accessibility Considerations

Ensure the poster is visible to drivers by focusing on font size, contrast, and clarity. Use clear fonts and avoid distracting backgrounds.

How do I register my interest?

Register using the button at the top of this page. We’ll send reminders as the due date approaches.

What is the due date?

Submit by 5:00 pm on Friday, 30 August 2024. No late entries will be accepted.

How do I submit my poster?

Email your completed poster as a PNG or PDF Print file to info@fireflybayandbasin.com with the subject “Poster Competition.” Name your file with your first name, surname, age, and version number. Multiple entries are allowed; attach each as separate files.

Include your name, age, and contact details in the email.

How will I know if I won?

All winners will be announced on Friday, 6 September, at 6:00 pm. They will be notified by phone and email, and the results will also be posted on Sanctuary Point Community Pride’s Facebook page.

Can I see examples of past posters?


Poster Judging

The major prizes will be judged by a panel of Firefly Bay and Basin staff and Wildlife Rescue volunteers. This expert panel ensures a fair and impartial judging process.

  • Criteria Evaluation: Judges will assess designs based on creativity, adherence to the theme, and effectiveness in promoting wildlife protection and road safety from dusk to dawn.
  • Evaluation Parameters: The focus will be on message clarity, visual appeal, and engagement with the target audience.
  • Discussion and Deliberation: Panel members will discuss and evaluate each entry thoroughly, sharing insights to make informed decisions.
  • Selection of Winners: Winners will be chosen by consensus after independent voting by panel members.
  • Fairness and Impartiality: The judging process will maintain fairness and objectivity, free from personal biases.

Communication of Results

Winners will be announced on the WRSC Facebook page on Friday, 6 September, and other relevant platforms.


People’s Choice Award

The People’s Choice Award will allow the community to vote for their favourite designs on Facebook.

Submission Showcase

After all submissions are reviewed, SPCP will create an album on its Facebook page featuring all designs, labelled with participants’ names and entry numbers.

Voting Period

Voting will take place from 31 August to 6 September. Community members can vote by liking or reacting to their favourite designs.

Promotion

SPCP and Firefly will promote the People’s Choice Award on their Facebook pages to encourage voting. They will share regular updates and reminders.

Winner Announcement

The design with the most likes/reactions will win the People’s Choice Award. The winner will be announced on the WRSC Facebook page on Friday, 6 September, at 6:00 pm alongside the other competition winners.


The Fine Print

Consent for Use of Submitted Designs:

By submitting your design, you grant Firefly and Sanctuary Point Community Pride (SPCP) permission to use your artwork for promotional purposes related to the competition and the Spring into Sanctuary Point Fair. This includes social media promotion and other marketing efforts. Please note that Firefly reserves the right to request or make changes to the poster, including resizing or rearranging it as needed.

Although we do not have a formal feedback process, we encourage participants and community members to share their thoughts on the poster design and its effectiveness. Your feedback is valuable to us, and you can email it to us at info@fireflybayandbasin.com. Additionally, feel free to follow Firefly on social media for updates and news on the competition.
