After reviewing the student pitches, the Sanctuary Point Public School executive team chose the Revitalise Sports Shed Project. Following this decision, the student learnt about the Planning and Execution stages of Project Management. The student worked with Maiki to plan the shed clean out and stock take, and on Monday, 9th September 2024, the school’s student leaders, supported by Liz and Christine from Firefly, spent the entire day transforming the school’s sports shed.
Together, they emptied, cleaned, audited, and repacked the space with impressive energy and determination. Broken equipment was removed, and the remaining items were neatly organized, making the shed more functional and welcoming. It was a “many hands make light work” moment, and the results speak for themselves!
The Celebration
To honour their incredible effort, the students enjoyed an end-of-project celebration featuring a well-deserved pizza party at lunchtime. During the celebration, they received certificates recognizing their hard work and contributions to the school community. The 2024 student leaders proudly showed off their revitalized shed to Ms. Doyle and the 2025 student leaders, inspiring the next generation of young leaders.

This project was made possible through Firefly’s generous $2,000 budget allocation. The funds helped the team reach their goals and brought new life to the shed. Firefly purchased:
- A new school bell
- Storage equipment
- Cleaning supplies
- Administrative supplies
- Frames for posters
- A Sports Shed Borrowing Pad
- New sports equipment to supplement the school’s existing supplies
Looking Ahead
The revitalized shed is more than just an organized storage space; it’s a resource that will benefit the entire school community. This project showcased what can be achieved when young leaders are empowered to make a difference.
