Nourishing Hearts: The Bay and Basin Uniting Church Community Food Pantry’s Journey

Community food pantry

In the heart of St Georges Basin, a beacon of compassion shines brightly— the Bay and Basin Uniting Church Community Food Pantry. Since its inception in 2021, this community-driven initiative has been a pillar of support, providing a lifeline to those in need. Today, we invite you to join the pantry’s mission to make a difference and ensure no one goes to bed hungry.

A Glimpse into the Heart of the Food Pantry

Nestled at 7 Meriton St, the Food Pantry opens its doors every Thursday from 12 to 2 pm, welcoming everyone with open arms. Operated by a dedicated team of volunteers, the Hub is not just a place; it’s a symbol of hope and generosity.

Customer-Centric Approach

What sets the Food Hub apart is its unique approach. Rather than a predefined selection, customers have the power to choose their food items individually. Tickets are distributed from 11 am, creating an organized and equitable process that ensures everyone gets what they need.

Community-Powered Support

The pantry shelves are stocked through the generosity of local businesses like Bakers Delight, Coles, Woolworths, and the Sanctuary Point Community Food Garden and the kindness of individuals like you. With a consistent customer base of 20-30 individuals per week, we are witnessing the impact of community unity.

Be a Changemaker

Here’s where you come in. Your support can be the catalyst for change. Whether it’s a non-perishable food item, a financial contribution, or a gift card to Cole, Aldi, or Woolworths, every gesture matters. Your involvement can help meet the needs of our growing customer base and make a lasting impact on our community.
